Os "sinais"

De acordo com Jared Diamond, Professor da UCLA e autor do livro "Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed", existem duas causas principais (que mais não são do que tautologias) que levam ao colapso das sociedades:

1. The Isolation of the Elite
"The people in power, who are running the country, loose touch with the mood, feelings and issues that the rest of the population faces."

2. Failure to Adapt the Core Values
"Societies are founded with a set of principals or values. If these values don't change or aren't updated to be relevant to the age, the society can fall."


O Malcom Gladwell de quem eu gosto bastante (vide "The Tipping Point") escreve uma interessante crítica no The New Yorker sobre o livro do Professor Jared, a qual vale a pena ler.
